Issa Rae Covers Women’s Health Magazine

“Insecure” writer, producer, director, Issa Rae cover’s Woman Health Magazine April’s Edition. In the article Rae talks about her struggles to maintain a healthy lifestyle and how sometimes she falls short. Issa contributed the weight gain to “New Money Weight.” “When you get a good job, you’re like, I can afford to eat at restaurants all the time!’ That adds up in weight.” Like many us, she used excuses to avoid exercising and eating right. ” I was a big excuse person when it came to exercising and eating right. I’d have spurts of trying to work out and being good. Then once I fell off. I’d be like. Well, there’s always next year.”  She credits Ava DuVernay one of her mentors for reminding her to take care of her mind and body. “We, as black women , don’t take care of ourselves enough.” Issa Rae contributes her weight loss to exercise and a Paleo Leaning Diet.

In my own experience I learned what she discovered while jogging, without the ear-buds all kinds of fresh ideas come to you.  You are forced to pay attention to your own thoughts.
